Steps to an Ohio life and health agent license
- Complete 20 hours of approved pre-licensing study for each line of authority, Life and Accident and Health (Ohio Revised Code 3905.04).
- Pass the PSI exam for the lines you want (11-35 covers both).
- Apply to the Ohio Department of Insurance and complete the fingerprint background check.
Resident licenses are renewed every two years, by the end of the agent's birth month, and agents complete at least 24 hours of approved continuing education per renewal period, including 3 hours of ethics (Ohio Revised Code 3905.06 and 3905.481).
Ohio's exam also tests the general concepts: practice them with the Life & Health topic quizzes and the 100-question practice exam.
